Dr Mengele is rubbing his hands with glee as the International Society for Stem Cell Research announce their plan to lift the decades old 14 day limit on embryo research. “It’s just too, too exciting!” he gushed when I interviewed him in his laboratory.
“Just imagine,” the well-renowned scientist exclaimed, “the hundreds of intensive foetal farms, artificial wombs gestating embryos at different stages of development, vivisection, gene editing, unfettered eugenics, an unlimited supply of organs for sale, human/ animal hybrids, embryoids, organoids, chimeras, the last frontier of science, billions of dollars, my legacy…”
To my horror Dr Mengele began to tremble uncontrollably and to foam at the mouth; “I am God! I am God!” he began to croak.
Fortunately, at that moment a colleague of his entered the lab and fished a baby soother from out of his pocket and put it in Dr Mengele’s mouth. As he sucked on it, Dr Mengele calmed down. “Isn’t the future wonderful?” he said, and of course, I wholeheartedly agreed with him.
